Quint's

What sad news earlier to read on Twitter that up to 80 jobs are at threat at what has always been affectionately known as "Quints" , Quinton Hazell, so many people over the years have worked for this company that was and I think still is based in Mochdre.
Once these names go they go for good and it's all part of our local heritage.
Very sad.

if quint's goes under, i'm sure Site quest will regenerate the area and leave us with more empty units.

Would you want to run a business in Conwy ?
The way things are going most larger Companies that have smaller companies under their wing in Conwy will swap over assests to another company and let the local compamy go down or will just pull up the tent pegs ..
Conwy council think business es are cash cow ..
it is virtually impossible to run a business from Conwy given all the hassle and red tape dished out

My brother an engineering undergraduate worked at Quints during the summer holidays back in the seventies, he said then that they were metal rippers and not engineers.

I'm surprised that they've survived this long. Pennis Thatcher was a director of Burmah oil the parent company of Quints at the time when they sold off quints to buy a chemical company just before his other half announced that Britain would be investing into chemical warfare.

Are local politicians seeking to find a possible long term solution,by encouraging active business initiatives?

quinton hazel made £24 million profit last year...perhaps someone should ask where did that money go and why wasn't it put back into quints

Local politicians and its officers are too busy looking for Euro and WAG funding to sustain and build their white elephants.

WAG and local government have put up so many bureaucratic barriers to grant funding that the business community has given up on seeing any of the Euro funding and third sector funding streams spend most of their budgets on employing themselves.
