“Doorstep lenders and payday loan companies actively target people in the run up to Christmas, effectively trapping many in an out-of-control debt spiral – 50% of those taking out a payday loan cannot afford to repay it. We have seen cases of people having nine or more payday loans with different lenders."

Marriage is Goig Wrong - For 0.2% of the Population?
So why not siblings? Parent & offspring? Multiples? Or adult & child?
When circa 0.2% of people are in 'civil partnerships' why on earth is David Cameron trying to "legalise" (sic) homosexual marriage.
The millennial institution of marriage will be undermined and further wrecked by this, and a damn site more people are married and will see the sanctity and history of the lifelong commitment they have undertaken wrecked by a millionaire playing silly politics with society.
Meanwhile socialists and liberals say the 'War on Drugs' (NB: there is no war, drugs are all but legal in many circumstances) should be solved by making drugs more freely available. They also say (with nary a glimmer of contradiction) that the gun problem in America (and here) should be solved by restricting guns.
Of course with the vast majority of gun crime in America, as with much of the gun crime in our own cities, the lefties/liberals overlook certain, shall we say, cultural influences and backgrounds. With guns we must blame the guns, with drugs we must not blame the drugs.
And so we have a society wherein tiny, degenerate minorities hold sway over the many. If it is a case of, as they say, "as long as they love each other" and "who can deny people who wish to show commitment" etc. - then why not brother and sister, father and son or indeed husband and wives (e.g. it could be "racist" to deny Hindoos) or a 20 year old man and a 12 year old boy (or 9 year old as Peter Tatchell publicly said he was in favour of)?
After all, who are you (bigot!) to deny people who love each other and wish to show lifelong commitment to each other (even though liberals have wrecked even that notion with easy divorce).
Equally we have a society in which the true nature of street, knife and gun crime is overlooked (so politicians can drone on about how immigration has "enriched" us - in reality it has enriched big business who use it to undercut our wages), but drug crime is encouraged via liberal laws. Presumably burglary is so commonplace and rarely solved, that the solution is to legalise that?
Nuts? Well not so long ago it would have been nuts to talk about legalising drugs or "gay marriage."
P.S. When the homosexuals won the right to 'civil partnership' they and the politicians told us that was all they wanted - they would not demand 'gay marriage.' We were lied to. Let this be a lesson for all: the more you give, the more they demand. If they get "gay marriage" it will not only further destroy marriage, it will mean worse to come in the years ahead (perhaps as outlined in homosexual leader Peter Tatchell's pro-paedophile letter to The Guardian in 1997).
I've been married ten years, marriage is not just a ceremony bonding two people, it is a civil commitment, a respectability that is placed within society, these laws and vows that are made are what hold our society together, when these idiots that rule us start undermining the fabric of our society the whole thing breaks down, it is not a question of these two queers or what ever being nice people, when in fact they are arse bandits, it is an inescapable fact that once you start tolerating such a thing, the whole cohesion of recognisable values become unsustainable, it lets all kinds of evil loose, you start with legalising abortion for what ever reason or legalising prostitution, and eventually these evils become the norm and our social fabric, the normal thinking of people, due to the nature of human spirit as hegel would have it, become the norm, and most people then become incapable of higher moral values, which when you think about it, is like a kind of mass mind rape, with out higher values, nothing is sacred or precious, the strength within the whole society is undermined, and you start admiring all those sand monkeys with their primitive hatreds, because they have the strength they are taking away from us, that human versus animal strength of being moral people. I hope that makes sense.
John.
bet you're glad you've got that off your chest anon
I fully agree John.
Do you have to be gay and married to get a pay day loan or is the first commentator barking up the wrong tree?
Conwy is very much a straight town full of hetro's hence the high rate of swingers.
Old Conwy Cucumberman.
Life must be full of such disappointments OCC.
MORE MADNESS!!!
The first baby to be born in France in 2013 has two mothers, at a time when the country grapples with a controversial bill that would allow same-sex marriage.

4 years ago they started monitoring how many over 65s were still in paid work - at the time it was 18%. It is now standing at 23%.
As more and more elderly remain in the workforce, then it becomes harder and harder for young school leavers to enter.
The answer? Not a clue. Plague perhapos. Or nuclear war.
In the papers yesterday m,any were running with the story that the welfare state was costing 200Bn a year. A story for the easily fooled that can't be bothered to see how that figure is made up. By far anf away the biggest slice was state pensions (38%), byt the time you included pension credits, and TV leicences for the elderly etc, pensioners accounted for over half of it.
Another large chunk was Housing Benefits/Local Housing Allowance - most of which is claimed by peoplke in work and most of which goes straight into the pockets of private landlords.
Other big chunks included Child Benefit (used to be family allowance) - that is given to every family with children from the Queen downwards.
Then ther was a host of other stuff such as Statutory Sick Pay, Disability Living Allowance etc etc.
Believe it or not, Job Seekers Allowance (dole) accounts for only 3% of it.
So perhaps the unemployed are not the scroungers the tories make them out to be.
Us load of of old farts who collect our pension every week have one thing in our favour! Most of us have paid for it. We have spent our WORKING lives contributing towards it. Some of us have contributed more than others, those who paid much more into the system by smoking and drinking heavily - and not living long enough to collect it!
Very few pensioners have contributed enough NI to cover their pension.
NI is supposed to cover dole, social security, widows pensions, education, the NHS, sick pay and disability. It comes nowhere near and hasn't for decades. It meets not even a quarter of the cost - the remainder comes from the general taxation bucket.
I addition, when the state pension started, the original claimants hadn't contributed anything as they had already retired. As a result it has remained a generational thing - ie you paid for your parents pension, your kids will pay for yours.
At inception it was worked on the assumption that you would only draw a state pension for 2-3 years - ie retire at 65, do the decent thing for the country and die by 67-68, and that a quarter of contributors would be dead before they retired anyway. So really, the retirement age needs raising to about 72.
North wales credit union charges 14% a.p.r for loans 2/3rds the average rate of the high street lenders.
If government gave higher tax releif for credit union savers then there maybe sufficient funds to lend to more borrowers at rates that are affordable.
The other alternative is to put a cap on interest rates but as the politicians are so far up the bankers behinds there's little chance of that happening.
