Huge Cock Up At The Expense Of Us The Taxpayer.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Gross incompetence.":

"The Weekly News carried this story today. However they left out most of the facts. The following points were NOT mentioned.
WAG provided the grant
CCBC were supposed to manage it.
WAG are taking the money back.
The Council Tax payers of Conwy will be paying the bill.
Funny that, does anyone know why the Weekly News missed all this out of the report.
Spuddy"

Is is alleged that the above funding from The Arsembly via The Temple of Waste has been clawed back because of a cock up on the Council's behalf, leaving us the taxpayer out of pocket!

What's an ex-forces hotel?

I know of three established small hotels in Llandudno run by ex-servicemen who network on the 'grapevine' and offer healthy discounts to current and former servicemen & women.

That's 140k to add to the 1.8m that's thrown away each year on the Venue.

Newcastle city council is considering to cut the entire 1.2m it spends each year supporting local theatres. CCBC a local authority more than half the size of Newcastle sees fit to piss away 1.8m each year supporting a commercial millstone venture.

With match funding this ongoing loss could be turned into an annual 3.6m pot to invest into creating new viable attractions.

Did you really expect anything different of Conwy Council ?

So why be surprised ?

This is just yet another example of Conwy council expertise and judgement
it is something else to brush under the carpet or parquet flooring (depending which council dept is involved)

Perhaps I'm missing something here - isn't a guy up on a charge of embezzelment of funds ?

The point I think Oscar has made is that the council has had all the money clawed back because it did not administer the grant money in a fit and proper way, had they done so the alleged fraud would have been stopped dead in it's tracks.
They fouled up and you the tax payer has paid the price!

Democracy is controlled by the people. Even the ones who don't vote are exercising their democratic right not to.

It isn't a lie. We live in a Parliamentary democracy. You have the right to vote for whichever party takes your fancy standing in your area. You have the right not to vote - is entirely your perogative. You can even form your own party provided it adheres to the laws - laws passed by MPs who got to that position because people voted for them.

Usually as a rule you find people moan about our system of democracy, but rather than form their own party, put their case to try and win votes and change things they just carry on moaning. They could join a party, become an activist and take a proactive lead in helping to formulate that paties policy. But they don't. They just moan.

Or the party they would like to vote for doesn't have the policies they want. So why do they want to vote for it then? Go and find another.

Or they can't find one. Form your own then.

Some say our voting system isn't fair. We had a referendum about that a couple of years ago. Of the people that had an opinion one way or the other, a clear majority voted to keep OMOV at Parliamentary level. Personally I voted to change it but I accept the result.

So what exactly is undemocratic bearing in mind it's all voted for?
And what are you doing to change it? If it's nothing then you have disenfranchised yourself and are of no relevance by choice.

Oscar and Red Flag this little gem applies to you.

That's nonsense. It basically means you are moaning about the democratic process but are either to lazy to do anything about it or if you are, because it's not going your way you are sulking.

You don't like it? Win enough votes to change it. If you can't it's because most people are happy with it - including it's short comings.

If you have voted Conservative, Labour or Lib Dem over the last 34 years you have voted for the EU police state, and for the abolition of your own party.
I could give 100s of more responses to Red Flags arguement but I fear it would be trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

The leaderships of the Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem parties have been taken over by pro-Europeans. These leaderships implement the EU's policy, and ignore the wishes of their voters. That's why your vote doesn't make a difference.

The Red Flag said...

EU police state? You have more rights and freedoms guarenteed in law as an individual and a worker now than you have ever had. That's the main reason the tory right and U-Kipperati want out of the EU - to remiove those rights.

And as for the anon that quoted Schopenhauer, for those of you that don't know, he is a discredited 'philosopher' who was a white supremacist homophobe, a eugenics supportering anti-semite who believed that women existed to obey. Hardly someone who has a valid point and certainly it is fairly obvious as to the leanings of anyone who uses him.

And what are you going to do Ron when Cameron wins his referendum? Which he will do, convincingly - the tories have spent an awful lot of time researching with focus groups and know that when it's explained to people properly they are overwhelmingly in favour. UKIP will face a dilemma of their own making as well as they minute that referendum is formalised they have to - by their own constitution, disband.

I fully agree with Rons comment.
